Spring is a time for cleaning up and cleaning out. Purging well loved, but no longer needed items is one of my favorite things. I prefer only having possessions that are useful or bring me happiness.
At least once a year I go through all my stuff and make the call – is this really needed? This year was no exception. I went through my kiddo’s rooms, the basement storage and my closets. I’m always surprised at how much ends up getting cleaned out; toys the kids no longer use, clothes they’ve grown out of and furniture and accessories our home no longer has room for.
Instead of dumping the whole lot at Goodwill there are many other organizations I support and I wanna spread the love.
This year I had 4 trips. Childrens toys, books and clothing went to our local women’s shelter, Middle Way House, my furniture and accessories went to the Habitat for Humanity ReStore, my towels and blankets went to the Animal Shelter and the rest of it to Goodwill.
It takes a little extra time but it’s worth the good karma, friends. Think about who can use what you no longer need and get it to them directly. This is an easy thing you can do that can make a big difference to someone else.
