It’s not all about Bloomington

February 6, 2018

I was out and about meeting with a friend the other day and I was totally blown away by the beauty of Owen County. I spend most of my time in Bloomington and Monroe County, but I work with real estate in Owen, Greene and Brown County as well.

This particular trip took me west through Spencer and into Freedom. It was a spectacular day and so I decided to check out downtown Spencer.

On my way, I drove by this beautiful white barn and this pasture of cows. Although you really can’t tell by the photo, they are perched on the edge of a ravine and in person, it looked like they could just fall right off.

Downtown was as cute as a button. A classic downtown square – courthouse and all. The store facades were old-timey and made me feel welcomed. I went into The Dragonfly Gallery which was totally adorable. I bought a cute pair of socks and resisted buying nearly everything else in the store.

After that, I walked over to the Tivoli Theater which is one of the oldest fixtures in the downtown built in 1928. Just recently the Tivoli has had a complete renovation complete with the little twinkle stars in the ceiling.  My friend gave me a few free passes to the Theater and I can’t wait to bring my kids out there to see a show.

I guess it’s easy to get stuck in a rut, going through the motions everyday, but it’s also important to go off the beaten path, smell the roses, appreciate the places you don’t see everyday.

So grateful that my job brings me to new beautiful areas day after day.
